Imaginary Pitch Meeting for ‘Redeeming Love’

Image
If you haven’t watched any of the Pitch Meeting comedy videos by Ryan George , you’re missing out. In each video, George pokes fun at a given movie’s plot holes and logical inconsistencies, framed by an imaginary discussion between a film producer and a screenwriter. (He plays the parts of both individuals, cutting the footage together so that his characters are talking to each other.) The screenwriter pitches a story idea while the producer interjects with various questions and comments. The results are often hilarious. For a stellar example of this setup, you can watch the pitch meeting for Watchmen  in the embedded video at the end of this post. In the spirit of Ryan George’s videos, I have written a pitch meeting for the faith-based film Redeeming Love . As such, the discussion below is an imaginary conversation between a Hip and Edgy Christian Screenwriter (HECS) and a Priggish, Obtuse Producer Crazy about Oscars, Ratings, and Notoriety (POPCORN). Enjoy! ----------------...

President Biden to Replace Hyde Amendment with “Rawhide Amendment”

Image
In one of his first acts as President of the Divided States of America, Biden has purposed to not only eliminate the Hyde Amendment, but to replace it with what he is calling the Rawhide Amendment. During a press conference awkwardly scheduled on the National Sanctity of Human Life Day, Biden said, “Why call it Rawhide? Well, why not? I mean, it even rhymes with Hyde. It’s perfect!” He continued: “We have a language problem, and it needs to stop. So many d**n people keep injecting the abortion debate with a vulgar vernacular. As such, I am introducing a legislative provision to make it a legal requirement to use only scientific terms.” First, Biden proposes that pre-born humans be referred to as fetuses—not babies. “A fetus is not yet a baby,” he said. “Science must be the determining factor here—not our emotions or personal preferences. Let’s stick to the facts, people! Our nation’s rich history illustrates how humans aren’t fully human until the United States government says th...

Joaquin Phoenix Apologizes for Gross Oversight in Oscar Acceptance Speech

Image
HOLLYWOOD, CA. – In a statement made earlier this morning to the press (minus CNN and its parent company Bablyon Bee , both of which were conspicuously absent), Best Actor winner Joaquin Phoenix apologized for failing to give his speech in its entirety during last night’s Oscar ceremonies. Securing the win for his performance as Joker in the movie The Joker , Phoenix apparently got a sudden case of the jitters. “When I talked about the opportunity to use our voice for the voiceless, I completely forgot to mention unborn children,” he said. “I’m not sure why. They were written down in my notes, right at the top of my list of gender, race, queer, indigenous, and animal rights, but I guess I was so nervous that I accidentally skipped over them.” Phoenix pulled out his notes and held them up for cameras to see. Photographs taken of the slip of paper reveal barely-legible scribbles, including one word which could be mistaken for “unshorn,” “untorn,” or (if you squint your eyes) “...
